The Toronto Star – Bold Menu has too Many Facets

What applies to celebrated architects goes double for new restaurants. Daniel Libeskind’s jagged metal design for the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal, which opened last month, stirred widespread debate about grafting modern sensibilities onto the dignified façade of the Royal Ontario Museum. The soaring space is magnificent. Libeskind takes a back seat to local design firm II BY IV, which builds on the linear motifs with clean furniture and architectural flatware. In this, C5 is like the Crystal. The way out is through a door with a pencilled-in Exit sign. Boldness deserves a better ending.
